Musician, ethnomusicologist and creative industries education specialist
Denise has designed, developed and led creative industries courses for over 30 years in a broad range of contexts from industry work-based learning, community enterprise, cultural education, undergraduate foundation and honours degrees to professional masters and PHD supervision.
Denise has been a creative industries advisor to Creative and Cultural Skills, Creative Skillset, Film London, London Development Agency, several UK metropolitan and local authorities and the Arts Council. She has developed and managed learning programmes for Barclays Media, EMI, Virgin, BT, the UK National Theatre, LIPA, City University, the University of Kent, and Westminster University. She has also worked on a number of social and vocational educational projects involving partnerships with education, creative companies and communities across Europe.
Denise specialises in teaching about the cultural and creative industries, particularly in the area of professional practice. However, she is also a specialist in non-formal learning and has contributed to symposia, conferences and published reports and papers on the subject of non-formal learning in predominantly creative community and industry contexts.
Denise is an educational enthusiast and a great believer in life-long and life-wide learning. She has a range of qualifications that she values from both formal and non-formal contexts from a PHD in ethnomusicology and MBA (Master of Business Administration) to Vegan Chef.
